Dear International Colleagues,

It is our pleasure to invite you to the Republic of Korea to participate in a symposium on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in medical product development.

The symposium, hosted by the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) and the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), will be held from February 26-29, 2024, at the Shilla hotel in downtown Seoul.

The symposium, AIRIS 2024, will allow participants to reflect on the challenges and opportunities we see, as regulators, in the use of AI in medical product development. The symposium’s goals are to enable a strong interactive dialogue focused on technical and scientific issues, emerging regulatory matters and to increase information sharing on how regulators can help advance the use of these innovative technologies to deliver safe and effective medical products.

This symposium will focus on pharmaceuticals, biologics and medical devices. We are seeking participation of regulators, industry and academia who not only want to learn and share information about AI in the regulatory landscape but also are currently grappling with AI challenges in regulatory reviews and decision-making.
